Ingredients

  • 1Ā packĀ Srivaraha Kuthiraivali (Barnyard Millet) Pongal Mix
  • 2Ā tbspĀ Ghee
  • 1Ā tspĀ Cumin
  • 1Ā tspĀ Pepper
  • 1Ā tbspĀ Cashewnut

Instructions

  • In a pressure cooker, add 1 cup of Barnyard Millet Pongal Mix with 3 cups of water.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt to taste. Stir well.
  • Close the lid and cook on medium heat for 5-10 minutes, or until you hear 3 whistles.
  • In a small pan, heat 1-2 teaspoons of ghee or oil. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon of crushed black pepper, a few curry leaves, and 1 tablespoon of cashews (optional).
  • SautĆ© until the cumin crackles and the cashews are golden. Pour this tempering over the cooked Pongal and mix.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
